What’s the difference of Direct Thermal Labels and Thermal Transfer Labels?
Direct Thermal Label (DTL) has the same function as thermal paper rolls. It has a chemical on the surface that could change color when exposed to heat. For direct thermal label, you just need a thermal printer. Ribbon is not needed.
Advantage: Quick printing, cost saving.

Note: If you are not sure your label is direct thermal label or thermal transfer label, you can scratch the surface with your finger nail. If the surface turns black, it’s direct label.
